Detecting interaction/complexitywithin crowd movements using braid entropy Research Papers

Murat AKPULAT, Murat EKİNCİ

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 6,   Pages 849-861 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1800313

Abstract:

The segmentation of moving and non-moving regions in an image within the field of crowd analysis is a crucial process in terms of understanding crowd behavior. In many studies, similar movements were segmented according to the location, adjacency to each other, direction, and average speed. However, these segments may not in turn indicate the same types of behavior in each region. The purpose of this study is to better understand crowd behavior by locally measuring the degree of interaction/complexity within the segment. For this purpose, the flow of motion in the image is primarily represented as a series of trajectories. The image is divided into hexagonal cells and the finite time braid entropy (FTBE) values are calculated according to the different projection angles of each cell. These values depend on the complexity of the spiral structure that the trajectories generated throughout the movement and show the degree of interaction among pedestrians. In this study, behaviors of different complexities determined in segments are pictured as similar movements on the whole. This study has been tested on 49 different video sequences from the UCF and CUHK databases.

New evaluation method on the precision of NC machine tools

Zhao Wanhua,Zhang Jun,Liu Hui,Yang Xiaojun

Strategic Study of CAE 2013, Volume 15, Issue 1,   Pages 93-98

Abstract:

The performance of computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tool is evaluated by the traditional positioning error and the positioning repeatability, which is in quasi static and cannot reflect the precision of machine tool in the process of movement and machining. In this paper, a novel precision evaluation method which takes the dynamic precision as index is proposed for high-speed machine tool. The precision of machine tool is described through the consistence of the actual trajectory and the ideal command. The specific evaluation index of dynamic precision is provided. Meanwhile, the measure method of evaluation index is put forward. It can be obtained that this new evaluation method of machine tool precision can evaluate the quality of key performance in CNC machine tool systematically and roundly.

Shengwen ZHANG, Guicheng WANG, Liang ZHANG, Xifeng FANG

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2009, Volume 4, Issue 1,   Pages 97-102 doi: 10.1007/s11465-009-0007-z

Abstract: To promote the research and development of modern digital and intelligent manufacturing technology and overcome shortcomings of computerized numerical control(CNC) programming for complex components, an innovative idea has been proposed to introduce knowledge based engineering (KBE) into the field of CNC programming within the integrated environment of CAD/CAPP/CAM. This paper constructs the architecture of CNC programming based on KBE within CAD/CAPP/CAM and explores the key technology of applying KBE to CNC programming — knowledge representation, knowledge acquisition, knowledge reasoning, and generalized knowledge base system of CNC programming. The integration of the CAD/CAM system and the CAPP system of enterprises has been achieved by taking the powerful CAD/CAM system of UG NX as a platform. The prototype system of CNC programming for complex components based on KBE within CAD/CAPP/CAM has been developed by means of UG/Open,VC++6.0, and SQL Sever 2000. Finally, a frame example, one of the complex components of a marine diesel, is presented, and the academic production and the intelligence of the system are verified.

Modeling and Real-time Performance Analysis of Switched Ethernet by Network Calculus

Wang Xiaoxin,Liu Luyuan,Liu Jing,Ma Jinjue

Strategic Study of CAE 2006, Volume 8, Issue 6,   Pages 55-59

Abstract:

The real-time performance of switched Ethernet is a hot research field. However, there isn't an effective modeling to describe it until now. Through analyzing the structure of classical switch, a switch model by network calculus is proposed, in which the data flow is divided into real-time flow and non-real-time flow and the arrival curve, service curve, the max delay and max storage needed are got. The max delay provides theory direction for transmitting real-time data in switched Ethernet and the max storage provides the theory reference for constructing switch in real-time industrial Ethernet.

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 6,   Pages 39-45

Abstract:

The microwave scatterometer onboard HY-2A Satellite mainly makes measurements of surface wind vectors over the global oceans. In order to ensure that the quality of wind vectors produced by ground application system software, the product must be validated to provide the basis for the quantitative application of the data product. This paper performs the validation of wind vectorsretrieved by HY-2A scatterometer using national centers for environmental prediction (NCEP )model data. The validation result suggests that the validationmethod cangive the precision of the overall wind vectors, and also can be used to analyze the precision characteristics relating with thescanningpencil-beam system and the scatterometer measurement mechanism.Meanwhile the validation can aid to identify the short-term anomaly of measuring performance.
